History
The purpose of the History Organizer is to provide historical information about the destination and list any historical sites that might be worth visiting. It is your job to build an interesting background about your destination so readers have a good understanding of everything the location has to offer.
A list of useful sites is provided above. You are required to visit these websites in order to find the information to complete the handout you were given in class. If there is another website you would like to use for this graphic organizer, your teacher must approve it. Information you should be looking for includes:
*Brief history of the location
*Interesting historical facts
*A map containing significant historical events and locations
*At least 3 historical landmarks your group could visit and the cost to visit each.

- CIA: World Fact Book - find historical information for countries around the world.
- United Nations Educational, Science, Cultural Organization - lists and describes historic locations and attractions for countries around the world. To find your destination, click on "The List" and search for the location.
- Lonely Planet - offers information on many countries around the world.
- Every Culture - provides historical information for countries around the world.
- The World History Place - provides links to historical locations around the world.
- World Guides - provides information about historical sites at different locations around the world.
- History -provides historical information about each state.
US Locations Only:
- The U.S. History Place - provides links to historical locations in different American states.
- US National Park Services - provides information about historical locations and national parks across the United States.
Mapping:
- Google Maps - provides the option to add several sites to one map. Do this by clicking on the blue arrow in the left hand corner of the screen. Type in the first two places, and then click add "Add Destination." After adding all locations, draw your map.
- Map Quest -provides the option to add several sites to one map. Do this by going to "Get Directions" and clicking "Add stop." Once you have three stops, type in the names of each landmark. You will see all three landmarks on one map. Draw this map on your organizer.
